Cord cover from $325; in-wall runs quoted

What does wire hiding include?

Wire hiding means getting the cables between your TV, outlets and devices out of sight. We do it two ways: running low-voltage cables inside the wall, or covering them with a slim surface channel.

Organizing wires with ties is part of Basic Mounting, from $200. Advanced Mounting, from $325, bundles the wires and covers them with a paintable cord cover. In-wall cable runs depend on the wall, so we price them once we know what is behind it.

In-wall cable runs for low-voltage wires

Low-voltage cables can run inside the wall, and that is the cleanest look. Low-voltage means the thin signal cables, not power. That includes:

  • HDMI cables from a cable box, streaming device or game console
  • Speaker wire for surround or in-wall speakers
  • Network cable for a solid internet connection to the TV
  • Antenna or satellite coax

We cut a small opening behind the TV and another near your devices, fish the cables through and finish each opening with a wall plate. When there is a stud, a firestop or insulation in the way, we tell you before we go further.

Surface cable covers

A surface cover is a slim plastic channel that runs along the wall and holds the cables. It is the right choice when a wall can’t be opened, when you rent or when you want a faster, lower-cost job. Many covers can be painted to blend in with the wall.

Log, stone and brick walls

Solid log, stone and brick walls usually can’t be fished. Around Vallecito Lake and the Pine River Valley, that covers a lot of homes. For those walls, we plan a short, neat cable path with a cover, or route cables down to a cabinet, through the floor or through a framed wall nearby when that works.

Why in-wall power needs a licensed electrician

The TV power cord cannot be hidden inside the wall. The National Electrical Code prohibits flexible cords inside walls, because a damaged or overheated cord in a wall is a fire risk no one can see.

If you want the power cord gone too, you have two safe options:

  • A new outlet behind the TV, installed by a licensed electrician. Once it is in, we hide the low-voltage cables to match.
  • A surface cover that carries the power cord down the outside of the wall to an existing outlet.

We do not add outlets or run power inside walls ourselves.

What affects the price of wire hiding?

Wall type, the distance between the TV and your devices, and the number of cables move the price most. A short drywall run straight down is simple. A long run across a room, or a wall with blocking, takes more time. See pricing for how quotes work.

How a wire-hiding job goes

We look at the wall first, then pick the path. We check for studs, pipes and existing wiring, confirm where your devices will sit and agree on the plan with you. Then we run the cables, finish the openings or covers, connect everything and test each device.

Wire hiding pairs with TV mounting and with speaker runs from home audio or home theater. We work from Purgatory to Pagosa; see our service areas. Contact us for a quote.

FAQ

Wire hiding questions

Can you hide the wires on a TV that is already mounted?

Usually, yes. Mounted and More can hide the wires on a TV someone else mounted, with an in-wall run for low-voltage cables or a paintable cover on the wall. Tim may need to take the TV off the mount to reach the back of it. The TV power cord still stays outside the wall unless a licensed electrician adds an outlet.
