What does device setup include?
Device setup means getting your TV and everything connected to it working together, so you can sit down and press one button. TV and remote programming is included in Basic Mounting, from $200, which also connects two devices.
Here is what we set up:
- Smart TVs: Wi-Fi connection, software updates, picture and sound settings, and the features you want on or off.
- Streaming: adding apps and signing in to the accounts you already have.
- Universal remotes: one remote for the TV, soundbar and streaming box where possible.
- Game consoles: connecting to the right input and the right picture settings for gaming.
- Soundbars: connecting to the TV so the volume works from the TV remote.
- Cable or satellite boxes: connecting and pairing with the remote.
Advanced Mounting, from $325, covers three to five devices or a two-speaker audio system.
Vacation-rental TV and remote setup
A vacation-rental TV setup should be easy for a guest who has never seen your system. Many homes around Vallecito Lake are vacation properties, and the TV is often the first thing guests ask about.
For rental owners, we focus on:
- One remote where possible, with the inputs labeled in plain words
- Streaming apps signed in to the accounts you choose
- A short instruction card for each TV
- Settings that come back to a simple home screen
- Wi-Fi that holds up when a full house is streaming at once, covered on our smart home and networking page
We can also set up several TVs across a cabin so they all work the same way. That saves guests from learning a new remote in every room.
Device setup with slow or limited internet
Streaming needs a working internet connection, and service near the lake varies by address. Some homes have DSL, fixed wireless, T-Mobile Home Internet or satellite. We check what works at your address and set the TV and apps up to match. When a connection is slow, a wired network cable to the TV or streaming box often helps more than a new device.
What affects the price of device setup?
The number of devices and how many rooms are involved move the price most. Setting up one TV with a streaming stick is quick. A cabin with four TVs, a soundbar and a game console takes longer. See pricing for the full picture.
How a device-setup job goes
We start by listing what you have and what you want it to do. Then we connect each device, update the software, program the remotes and test every input. Before we leave, we walk you through the controls and answer questions. Keep your streaming passwords handy, since you will need them to sign in.
