What handyman jobs do we do?
We take care of the small jobs that pile up around a house or cabin. If it is a quick fix, an assembly or something that needs to go on a wall, we can usually help.
Common jobs include:
- Assembly: furniture, shelving, bed frames, desks, grills and outdoor furniture
- Hanging: mirrors, art, shelves, curtain rods, blinds and coat hooks
- Caulking: tubs, showers, sinks and window trim
- Minor fixes: sticking doors, loose hinges, cabinet hardware, towel bars, weatherstripping and small trim repairs
- Small seasonal jobs: swapping storm doors, tightening deck railings and changing hard-to-reach light bulbs
Tim can often combine small jobs with a TV mount or smart home visit, which saves a second trip.
What jobs go to a licensed pro?
Anything structural, regulated or dangerous goes to a licensed pro. We do not do:
- Structural work, such as moving or cutting into load-bearing walls, beams or framing
- Plumbing under the plumbing code, such as repairing or moving pipes, replacing water heaters or adding fixtures
- Gas work of any kind, including hooking up gas stoves, dryers or fireplaces
- Electrical panel work, new circuits, new outlets or line-voltage wiring
Power cords never run inside walls. If your job needs a licensed contractor, plumber or electrician, we tell you during the estimate.
Hanging heavy things on log, stone and drywall
Hanging heavy items is the same skill as TV mounting. On log walls, we use lag bolts into solid log and stay out of gaps and chinking. On brick and stone, anchors go into the face of the brick or stone, not the mortar joints. On drywall, we find studs or use anchors rated for the weight.
Very heavy pieces, like large mirrors or loaded bookshelves, may need a look in person before we quote. Tall bookcases and dressers in homes with kids can also be anchored to the wall so they do not tip.
Help for vacation homes and rentals
Rental owners often need small fixes between guests, done by someone they trust. We can work through a list of small jobs in one visit. See vacation rental smart home setup and winterizing.
How do I get a price?
Handyman work is quoted with a free estimate. Send a list of the jobs, the town and a few photos, and we will tell you which ones we can do and roughly how long they take. Bundling several small jobs into one visit is usually the best value.
See pricing for how quotes work, or request an estimate. For seasonal work outside, see fire mitigation and holiday lighting.
