What changes the price of TV mounting?

Five things change the price: TV size, wall type, mounting over a fireplace, in-wall wiring, and distance to your home. Each one adds time, hardware or both. Here is how each works.

  1. TV size. Bigger TVs need heavier mounts and more care to lift and level. Advanced Mounting covers TVs from 46 to 60 inches. Larger screens are quoted as custom projects.
  2. Wall type. Drywall over wood studs is the quickest wall. Log walls need lag bolts into solid log with room for seasonal settling. Stone and brick need masonry anchors in the face of the stone, never the mortar joints. Our log, stone and brick guide explains why.
  3. Fireplace. Mounting above a fireplace often means stone, a higher reach and a heat check first. See mounting a TV over a fireplace.
  4. In-wall wiring. Organizing wires is part of Basic Mounting, and Advanced Mounting hides them under a cover. Running HDMI and other low-voltage cables inside the wall costs more. Power cords never go inside a wall under the National Electrical Code, so a new outlet behind the TV is a job for a licensed electrician. Our wire hiding page covers the options.
  5. Distance. We are based in Vallecito, about 13 miles from Bayfield and about 45 minutes from Durango. Where your home sits in the county can factor into the quote, and we tell you up front.

How do national install services compare on price?

National install services set their own prices, and those prices change, so check each provider’s current rate directly. When you compare, ask what the price includes, whether it covers your address near Vallecito Lake or in the Pine River Valley, and whether it handles log, stone or fireplace walls.

Our installer comparison guide walks through local, national and do-it-yourself options side by side.

How do I get an exact price?

Send a photo of the wall, your TV size and a list of what you want connected, and we will give you a price before any work starts. Photos matter most for log, stone and fireplace walls, because they show us the surface and how high the TV will sit.

Include your town: Vallecito, Forest Lakes, Bayfield, Ignacio or Durango. If the job grows into a soundbar, surround sound or Wi-Fi work, we can quote it all together.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does it cost to mount a TV in Vallecito or Durango?

Mounted and More publishes its starting prices: Mount and Go starts at $150, Basic Mounting at $200 and Advanced Mounting at $325. These are starting points for Vallecito, Bayfield, Ignacio and Durango jobs. TV size, wall type, a fireplace, in-wall wiring and distance can raise the total, and you hear the price before any work starts.

Does mounting a TV on a log or stone wall cost more?

Usually, yes. Log walls need lag bolts into solid log placed for seasonal movement, and stone or brick needs masonry anchors in the face of the stone, not the mortar. Both take more time and hardware than drywall. Mounted and More quotes log and stone jobs around Vallecito Lake and Bayfield after seeing a photo of the wall.

Is hiding the TV wires included in the price?

Partly. Basic Mounting from Mounted and More includes organizing the wires, and Advanced Mounting adds a paintable cord cover. Running low-voltage cables inside the wall costs more. Power cords never go inside the wall, and a new outlet behind the TV is a job for a licensed electrician, in Durango, Bayfield or anywhere else.
